VW is Considering Trucks and vans for the U.S.
Volkswagen has been dominating car sales here in the United States and around the world. However, they believe there might be room in the lineup to expand. We have been hearing reports that they are extensively considering the idea of bringing Volkswagen trucks and vans to the U.S. market, which is very exciting. We are very excited about the possibility of this. So we are going to tell you everything that we know so far about the fact that VW is considering trucks and vans for the U.S.
There was recently a conference where Eckhard Scholz, Head of Light Commercial Vehicles for Volkswagen spoke about the possibility of bringing trucks and vans to the United States. Scholz said that, “Pickup trucks are a dominating segment in the US.” After that he was asked about bringing compact utility vans to the states and he said, “We’re looking at both options intensively.”
It could be a very smart move for Volkswagen to bring trucks to the states. Pickup trucks drive sales for some of the biggest automakers in the United States. For example, Ford’s F-150 model is one of the biggest money makers for the blue oval.
Also, the compact utility van segment is getting very hot here in the United States as well. Vehicles such as the Ford Transit Connect, Ram ProMaster City and Chevy City Express have really been booming in America. So bringing a utility van vehicle to the US has the potential to be a very profitable endeavor for VW.
