Ford is known for being a very progressive and innovative automaker. They have earned this reputation by coming out with countless advanced new features each and every model year. For the 2015 model year Ford released their most advanced version of the F-150 ever. It was made out of military grade aluminum, which cut weight, and increased the fuel economy and payload rating. Many people were wondering what Ford would do to top that for the 2016 model year. Well, we finally got our answer, they will be implementing a new exciting feature called the Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Therefore, in this blog post we will be highlighting Ford’s new Pro Trailer Backup Assist system.

One of the most common things that pickup truck drivers do is haul trailers. Whether you are doing it for work or play, it is something commonly associated with trucks. We are confident that almost every camper or fisherman has one or two horror stories about when they tried to backup their trailer. Backing up a trailer can be challenging because it can be difficult to see and maneuver. Therefore, Ford spent eight years developing this new Pro Trailer Backup Assist to solve that problem.

This new system will debut soon on the new 2016 Ford F-150 and works by allowing drivers to steer in reverse through the use of a small dash mounted knob. Essentially all that you need to do is turn the knob where you would like the trailer to be positioned, and the wheel will automatically adjust itself to that angle. This system does all of the steering for you, all that you have to control is the little knob, the accelerator pedal, and the brake.

According to the Marketing Manager for Ford Truck Group, Doug Scott, “Pro Trailer Backup Assist is a smart solution to save time and increase productivity for our customers.” He went on to say that, “instead of struggling to back up their trailer, they can spend more time on the job or enjoying the lake.”
