Chrysler’s PentaStar V-6 is About to get a Turbocharger
Here at Dave Syverson Auto Center we like to stay up to date on everything that is going on with the automotive brands that we sell. Then when we hear something newsworthy we try to tell you about it right away to keep our audience in the loop as well. Well, this morning we found out that Chrysler’s PentaStar V-6 is about to get a turbocharger. So we decided to use this blog post to highlight everything that we’ve heard about this story so far.
Chrysler is taking a page out of Ford’s book and developing technology that is similar to EcoBoost for its PentaStar engine. We are very excited about this engine update because the turbocharger and direct injection will allow Chrysler to create more powerful engines that are also significantly more fuel efficient.
This new update to the PentaStar engine is part of a company-wide strategy to meet the increasingly stricter corporate average fuel economy standards. These PentaStar engines can be found in almost all of Chrysler’s vehicles. So the new improvements will help to boost the performance and fuel economy of almost all of the vehicles that Chrysler sells
The very first upgraded PentaStar engine is rumored to be debuting late in the year in 2015. Most people believe that the a new redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee will be the first vehicle to come equipped with this engine
This improved engine is also expected to show up on a new redesigned version of the Town and Country minivan, which is rumored to be coming out for the 2016 model year. They are planning to pair the turbocharged PentaStar up with a nine-speed transmission on the van to achieve increased fuel economy.
It is exciting to see Chrysler continuing to innovate and push the envelope with their vehicles. Anyone interested in learning more about the newest lineup of Chrysler vehicles should stop down to Dave Syverson Auto Center and visit with one of our expert team members.
