2017 Jeep Wrangler redesign and release date
There has been a great deal of speculation for the latest addition to the Jeep Wrangler family. Rumors about switching from a body-on-frame to a unibody style of production while shifting to an all-aluminum body have abounded for the past year. That appears to have been clarified (the body-on-frame style will remain for now), but there are still many discussions and ideas to keep up with about the new vehicle. Here are a few updates on where we stand with the 2017 Jeep Wrangler redesign and release date.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Body Style
Earlier in the year, it was thought that the new SUV would be made from aluminum, requiring a change to unibody style, where there is no separate frame from the body of the vehicle. That will not be the case this go-round. While the entire body will not be made from aluminum, the lighter-weight metal is still expected to be a factor in its production. The hood, tailgate, and doors could all be made from aluminum, which may help with the new Wrangler’s weight and aerodynamic properties. The updated off-road vehicle is expected to be more aerodynamic overall, but shouldn’t have a massive overhaul in its appearance. A feature that some Jeep lovers enjoy, however, will no longer be included–the folding windshield.
2017 Jeep Wrangler Powertrain
The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is expected to feature an updated version of the Pentastar V-6 engine. That may change depending on whether or not the Wrangler’s weight can be decreased with the addition of aluminum to the equation, in which case it remains possible that a four-cylinder engine could be used. Four-wheel drive is anticipated to remain a standard feature.
2017 Jeep Wrangler release date
The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is anticipated to grace dealerships sometime in late 2016. The cost has not yet been set, but new Jeep Wranglers have a starting MSRP around $24,000, and the next generation shouldn’t stray far from that price.
